Amsterdam will witness its 1,000th call to the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) during 2011, says Dick de Graaff, commercial manager PTA. It is also expecting a record number of calls at 120 this year, breaking its 2008 record of 117.
Almost half, 54, are turnarounds. SeaDream Yacht Club is a first this year as is Costa Cruises’ Costa Deliziosa. Other companies to turnaround are MSC Cruises with MSC Opera, Celebrity Cruises with Celebrity Constellation and Holland America Line with Prinsendam and Maasdam.
Total passenger numbers will also be the highest ever at 250,000.
Newcomers to the port in 2011 are AIDAcara, AIDAsol, Norwegian Sun, Sea Cloud, Hanseatic, Artania, Dawn Princess, Marina and Oceanic (the Peace Boat).
