On February 27 1878 the 74.7km Jaeren Line, a narrow gauge standalone railway line, was opened. A shore excursion launched this year makes it possible for passengers to travel from Stavanger to Egersund on Seaview Rail. The journey passes through changing landscapes and along the coast with its sandy beaches and lighthouses.

There is an hourly service from Stavanger with capacity for 140 persons. A suggested timetable is for passengers to be transferred from the ship to the station by bus leaving at 0830 for the four and a half hour tour which includes an hour in Egersund, home to a chocolate factory and porcelain museum. Initial passenger feedback has been very good.
