In 2015, the Port of Leixões welcomed 85 cruise ship calls and 78 500 passengers, which represents an increase of 9% in the number of cruises and 22% in the number of passengers, over the same period of last year.
In fact, 2015 was the best year ever for cruises at Leixões.
Over the last year, Leixões also welcomed the inaugural call of Corinthian and the brand new Mein Schiff 4 from Tui Cruises, which have chosen Leixões as one of the ports to visit on its maiden voyage. The Grand Circle Cruise Line has also started operations at Leixões in 2015 with the call of Corinthian.

The recently opened Porto Cruise Terminal was visited by 41 cruise ships and the Passenger Station of Leça da Palmeira was visited by 44 cruise ships. Despite having welcomed fewer vessels, the new Porto Cruise Terminal was visited by nearly 63 000 passengers, which means 80% of all passengers.
As in previous years, May and September were the months that contributed the most to these numbers.

Cruise activity at Leixões has been sustainably growing year by year due to the constantly promotion of Leixões and its cruise activity by this Port Authority among world major cruise lines and to the investments made in recent years such as the new cruise quay, opened in 2011 and the new Porto Cruise Terminal, opened last year.
The work carried out by this Port Authority together with all stakeholders in the promotion of Leixões as a cruise port will continue and for 2016 it is expected a new growth both in the number of cruises and in the number of passengers. 90 cruise ship calls and almost 90 000 passengers are already schedule for 2016, including 4 inaugural calls and one new cruise company.
