In a session on ‘deployment drivers’ at Seatrade Europe in September, Cruise Europe’s regional chairman Dick de Graaff (commercial manager Passenger Terminal Amsterdam)charted the success of Europe as a cruise destination and its increasing appeal as a year-round destination.
Citing Holland America Line’s recent announcement that it will year-round in Rotterdam, he said that Southampton, Hamburg and Amsterdam are all now year-round ports. He explained: “Europe is also nice in winter. The seasons are extending and there are more Christmas calls.”
